11 Jan 2006 - First Fry in New Hatchery
During September and early November 2005 we lifted a small amount of sea trout and brown trout from the Inver River and transported them to our new hatchery. We stripped and fertilised approximately 14,000 eggs and the first of them hatched on 2th January 2006. We were pleased as we only had a mortality rate of 8 percent with our eggs. The water temperature stayed at a steady 9 degrees as our water supply comes directly from a spring. As this is our first year we did not attempt to try and strip to many fish. We will keep you informed on to the progress of our first fry. For other photographs see our Project Gallery Page.
